Have you ever peered into a rock pool, really peered? As a child exploring the beaches of Dublin or Kerry, I was endlessly captivated by them. Those tiny worlds held so much life – vibrant colours, strange textures and shapes, a glimpse of life after the tide recedes. A few years ago, while walking on a beach in Brittany, I came across some fascinating pools that rekindled that childhood wonder. ‘Rockpool 1’ grew from that renewed fascination. I hope that it sparks something in you, too. Perhaps a memory of your own seaside adventures, or simply a feeling of curiosity about the countless worlds within worlds that are all around us but which we so often overlook.
