The Fall was inspired by the famous John Lennon quote, “Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans”.
The painting shows an apple apparently suspended in mid-air, sliced into separate sections and frozen between ascent and descent. The bright yellow centre contrasts with the darker textured surround, creating a sense of tension between certainty and change.
The title alludes to how quickly circumstances can shift. One moment life appears settled; the next, events take an unexpected turn.
