Inspiration strikes in the strangest ways. A news story about a stranded sheep, Gilbert O’Sullivan’s ‘Alone Again (Naturally)’ playing in the background – the coincidence felt too tempting to ignore. I wanted the painting’s vibrant blues and greens to heighten that sense of isolation, a tiny, solitary figure against a vast landscape.

Thankfully, the sheep’s story had a happy ending. It was eventually rescued and brought to safety.
