Well Oiled

Well Oiled is a self-portrait from a time in my life when the title was accurate.

Using syringes, needles and highly diluted oil paint, I drew the portrait while the paint remained fluid enough to pull colour through colour. It then spent months lying on its back as the paint slowly oxidised. Throughout that time, excess oil was repeatedly drawn away with syringes.

Back then, the wine flowed freely, sometimes too freely.
