Sunrise from Albert Bridge

Sunrise from Albert Bridge

Oil paint on canvas

Size: 30.5 x 40.5 x 2 cm

For a couple of years, I used to go for an early morning run or walk in Battersea Park and was regularly struck by the beauty of the sunrise as I crossed Albert Bridge. This painting was my attempt at capturing the magic of those moments.

Fun fact: Albert Bridge is affectionately known as “The Trembling Lady” because of its tendency to vibrate, especially when soldiers marched across it. The signs instructing troops to “break step” are still in place today!
