Living in Chelsea, I cross Albert Bridge regularly on my way to and from Battersea Park. From there, the sunrises and sunsets can be extraordinary. On some evenings the bridge becomes little more than a dark silhouette against the sky, while the Thames catches the changing light.
This painting grew out of one such moment. What drew me was not simply the bridge itself, but the atmosphere created by the fading light and the brief sense that an everyday journey had become something memorable.
